What is your earliest memory? I think mine is when I was very new to this world. I looked around and said to myself, “This is something else, I must try to remember everything!”

Mom says I was a different kind of kid. I was happiest when I played by myself.  I remember playing with whatever toys I had and getting into my own little fantasy world.

When I was older, I remember church. I was fascinated by the Preacher. Not a certain Preacher, but any Preacher. The sermons grabbed me. I tried to memorize what they were saying. It seemed so important.

I think I was about 5 or 6, when I “accepted Jesus in my heart”. Man, did I struggle to leave the pew and go up to the Preacher. I didn’t wind up leaving my pew but internally, I had made a decision.

To follow God. You see, This “accepted Jesus in my heart” business is nothing but a ploy. A scam, if you will. Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi that lived in the First Century (according to the Gregorian calendar, not the Jewish calendar).

For the next half century, that moment in time carried me. Every time I had a ‘crisis of life’, I remembered that I was child of the Most High and he had the situation well in hand.

So today, I am a Proselyte. A convert to Judaism. Why did I decide to become Jewish? Why not just remain a “righteous Gentile”? It’s not the way I roll, because I have a different soul. I tell my Gentile friends that we Jews are not better than they are, just different.  It’s just that I was born with a Jewish soul. They were not.

(Jer 29:11)  ‘For I know the plans I am planning for you,’ declares יהוה, ‘plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expectancy.

(Jer 29:12)  ‘Then you shall call on Me, and shall come and pray to Me, and I shall listen to you.

(Jer 29:13)  ‘And you shall seek Me, and shall find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

These verses can apply to everybody, Jew and Righteous Gentile.

Jer 29:14  ‘And I shall be found by you,’ declares יהוה, ‘and I shall turn back your captivity, and shall gather you from all the gentiles and from all the places where I have driven you, declares יהוה. And I shall bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.’

This verse applies to Jews.

We are all children of the Creator of the Universe with different missions.

I know this sounds elitist. But that’s the way it is. We all have our jobs to do. Jews are the chosen people. We have the Torah (the Law). It is not just written either. It was also transmitted to Moses orally.

What is the Gentiles job? To follow the Laws of Noah. My Rabbi has an excellent dissertation on what these are here. https://www.betemunah.org/noachide.html

So, why am I Jewish? I was born with a Jewish soul. Simple as that.
