Are You Israel? Which One, Northern or Southern?

First of all, let me put this disclaimer out there.

1. I have never walked on water (unless you consider being pulled by a 70 horse Johnson boat motor), raised up a dead person or even made water into wine (believe me, I would if I could!).

2. The Walk Brenda and I are on now is OUR Walk. You have your own Walk. Unless HaShem (G-d, Yehovah, the Father, etc) tells you in your “knower of knowers”, don’t follow us in our Walk. We are NOT here to proselytize. We are in a process of converting to Judaism through the guidance of our elder, Adon Gabriel Hunnicutt.

3. The following is an explanation of our Walk. If you disagree on certain points or conclusions, please, let me know in the comments section.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

There are other verses and stories in the Tanak that support it but for now this is sufficient to let you know I am a believer in the 2 house scenario posited by so many in the Hebrew Roots movement … Eddie Chumney, Brad Scott, Rico Cortes to name a few.

So if you look at this verse you have to disseminate who is Israel and who is Judah?

Here we go to 2 Chronicles Chapter 11 …

2Ch 11:16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

This is a verse that’s talking about someone that  set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel .  Who are these people? the answer is earlier in the chapter.

2Ch 11:1 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.

Ok, Rehoboam gathered Judah and Benjamin. Judah and Benjamin are the southern tribes which stayed in Jerusalem.

Go back to Chapter 10 ….

2Ch 10:15 So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
2Ch 10:16 And when all Israel saw that the king would not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.
2Ch 10:17 But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
2Ch 10:18 Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
2Ch 10:19 And Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

Did you catch that? The Israel that rebelled against the house of David is the Northern kingdom! Rehoboam ruled over the southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin!

In verse 17 Rehoboam is reigning over the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, but in verses 15 and 16 we have rebellion against  Rehoboam and the House of David! They stoned Rehoboam’s emissary Hadoram to death and would have done the same to him had he not fled (vs. 18); now we have the 2 houses established.

1. The children of Israel that were obedient to Rehoboam. The Southern Kingdom consisting mainly of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. These people kept worshipping at the Temple in Jerusalem according to the Torah.

2. The children of Israel that rebelled and went north. The Northern Kingdom that set up their own houses of worship and times for worship. Their own  PRIESTS!

2Ch 11:14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD:

It is interesting to note that in the very next chapter, Rehoboam gathered an army together but Hashem stopped him.

I

2Ch 11:1 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2Ch 11:2 But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
2Ch 11:3 Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
2Ch 11:4 Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

Shemaiah was Rehoboam’s prophet much like Samuel was to King David.

So, we have a rebellious northern kingdom and Rehoboam set to go after them but HaShem stops him.

I think this would be a good time to interject some definitions.

Rehoboam means in Hebrew ” a people has enlarged” H7346 Strong’s

Jeroboam means in Hebrew “(the) people will contend” H3379 Strong’s

I hear Messianics (Hebrew Roots) people all the time saying, “We are Israel! We follow Torah! We don’t follow Rabbis! We’ve been fooled by men before and it’s not going to happen again!  This all sounds so good and righteous. They are correct. They are Israel. Northern Israel.

I want to take you to this verse now:

2Ch 11:14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest’s office unto the LORD:

What is this saying? Pretty simple.  The legitimate Levites or Priests left all they owned and went back to Judah because Jeroboam had threw them out and instituted his OWN priests! So, there were NO legitimate Levites or Torah ordained Priests left in the Northern Kingdom. Just those appointed by MEN!

In summary, I want to repeat 2 Chronicles  …

2Ch 11:16 And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.

Brenda and I set our hearts to seek the LORD God of Isreal.  From Cornerstone Church in Borger to Biblishe Gemiende in Germany to Hebrew Roots teachings till now, we have prayed to Yeshua to lead us to the LORD God of Israel.

He has led us on this path. We are being taught by a loving Rabbi, Rabbi Dr. Yosef ben Haggai, who is currently in Australia. We have fellowship with his talmudim in Washington state and Tennessee. One of which, Rabbi Gregg Killian has an excellent website, called “The Watchman”. May Hashem watch over you in your journey and may we all have shalom in our lives.

I READ YOUR BLOG AND I AGREE WITH ALL YOU WROTE. WE DO WHAT WE DO FOR THE SAKE OF HEAVEN. HASHEM WANTS US TO SERVE HIM BECAUSE OF OUR LOVE FOR HIM AND FOR NO OTHER REASON. THIS WOULD BE TRUE LOVE. WITHOUT SEEKING OUR BROTHER YEHUDA, AND FOLLOWING HIM, WE CAN NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS. WE WILL DO AND THEN WE WILL KNOW.

At that time, the Levites were the legitimate authority in Torah and Temple worship. When the Northern Kingdom replaced them with men who had no right to be priests, the Levites were right to leave. They left apostate Northern Israel and joined themselves to Judah, who at that time, was following the God of Israel and Torah. It is similar to: “Come out of her (Babylon) My people.” They came out of her.
It would have been wonderful if Judah had stayed true to her Elohim. But regretfully they didn’t. Look at the very next chapter, 2 Chronicles 12:1 “And it came to be, when Rehoboam had established himself, that he forsook the Torah of Elohim, and all Israel (in this case, Judah) with him.” A little further, in vs 14: “And he (Rehoboam) did evil, BECAUSE HE DID NOT PREPARE HIS HEART TO SEEK ELOHIM.”
Now look at 2 Chronicles 10:15 “So the sovereign did not listen to the people, for the turn of events was from Elohim, in order for Yah to establish His word,….”
But, as in everything, you must read in context to know what’s really being said. Go back and read verses 1-15. The Northern Kingdom would have followed Rehoboam had he treated them as they would have wanted to be treated themselves. Instead, he chose to keep them in harsh bondage. What do you think Judah would have done were roles reversed?
Just like Pharaoh’s heart was hardened to enslave Elohim’s people, so was Rehoboam’s. And, in both instances, it was from Elohim.
Why did this happen? Look back at 1 Kings 11. Read the whole chapter. His father, Solomon, son of David, did evil in Elohim’s eyes by going after other gods. Therefore, the kingdom was torn from his son Rehoboam – except for Judah and Benjamin. Yes, this was from Elohim.

2 Chronicles 10:19 “Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.” House of David is synonymous with Judah. Just as the Levites were right then to leave Northern Israel, the house of Israel is right today not to come under the authority of the House of David. Why do I say that?
Matthew 21:42-43 “Yeshua said to them, (the Pharisees/Rabbis) ‘Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner-stone. THIS WAS FROM ELOHIM, and it is marvelous in our eyes. BECAUSE OF THIS I say to you: the reign of Elohim hall be taken from you and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits of it.” (In this case, Northern, dispersed, returning Israel, including some of Judah).

Again, why? “See! Your house is left to you desolate, for I say to you (Pharisees/Rabbis) from now on you shall by no means see Me, until you say, ‘Blessed is He who is coming in the Name of Yah!” Matthew 23:38-39; Psalms 118:26
So the statement that Judah kept worshipping according to Torah is a false statement. The Northern Kingdom was the first to leave Torah, but Judah was not far behind.
Elohim did not leave His Torah in the hands of a few men, making the majority dependent upon a few to be able to learn and therefore, keep Torah. Over and over and over the Scriptures read: “It is written”.
“But the anointing which you have received from Him stays in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as the same anointing does teach you concerning all, and is true, and is no falsehood, and even as it has taught you, you stay in Him.” 1 John 2:27
Mark 7:6-9 Yeshua speaking: “Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it has been written, ‘This people respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men. Forsaking the command of Elohim, you hold fast the traditions of men.” And He said to them, ‘Well do you set aside the command of Elohim, in order to guard your tradition.”
Both Judah and Israel have strayed from the God of Israel.
Jeremiah 5:11-13 “For the house of Israel AND the house of Judah have utterly betrayed Me, declares Elohim. They have been untrue to Elohim, and said, ‘It is not He. No evil comes upon us, nor do we see sword or scarcity of food.’ And the prophets have become wind, and the Word is not in them….”
Malachi 2 – read the whole chapter. Vs8 Speaking to Judah: “But you, you have turned from the way, you have caused many to stumble in the Torah. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, said Yah of hosts.’ And I shall make you despised and low before all the people, because you are not guarding My ways, and are showing partiality in the Torah.’ Have we not all one Father? Did not one El create us? Why do we act treacherously against one another, to profane the covenant of our fathers?”
Over and over and over the Scriptures repeat the treachery and falling away of BOTH houses of Israel. BOTH houses are rebellious. One house does not have a right to point the finger at the other.
“And I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and committed whoring too…… Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.” Jeremiah 3:8,11 Many, many, many places Scriptures state this.
“As it has been written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one! There is no one who is understanding, there is none who is seeking Elohim. They all have turned aside, they have together become worthless. There’s none who does good, no, not one.” Romans 3:10-12 And in case, you think that is just speaking of Israel, vs 9 “…for we have previously accused both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.”

I look forward to Jeremiah 3:18 “In those days the house of Judah shall go to the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.”
I look forward to the day we can come together as brothers. Did not one God create us all? Have we not all one Father?

“Set our hearts to seek the God of Israel” – Yes, we have. How do we do this? By believing ALL of Elohim’s Word.
“By this you know the Spirit of Elohim: Every Spirit that confesses that Yeshua Messiah has come in the flesh is of Elohim, and every spirit that does not confess that Yeshua Messiah has come in the flesh is not of Elohim. And this is the spirit of anti-messiah which you heard is coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:2-3
“AND THIS IS HIS COMMAND, that we should believe in the Name of His Son Yeshua Messiah and love one another, as He gave us command.” 1 John 3:23
    Do you?

I haven’t read the entire comment but I wanted to answer your question at the end. YES, I definitely do believe in the Name of His Son Yeshua Messiah! AS MESSIAH … NOT G-D …. http://betemunah.org/conundrum.html

Luke 1:35 “And the angel answering, said to her, ‘The Set-apart Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow you. And for that reason the Set-apart One born of you shall be called: Son of Elohim.”
Holy from His birth…………. A result of the power of the Set-apart Spirit……who, according to 2 Corinthians 3:17 is the Father ….. called not one of many sons, but the Son of Elohim………..
“And the Word became flesh and pitched His tent among us, and we saw His esteem, esteem as of an only brought-forth of a father, ….”
“He was in the beginning with Elohim. All came to be through Him, and without Him not even one came to be that came to be.” John 1:14, 2-3

    Isaiah 45:21b-22 with Acts 4:12
“….And there is no mighty one besides Me, a righteous El and a Savior, there is none besides Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am El, and there is none else.”
“And there is no deliverance in anyone else, for there is no other Name under the heaven given among men by which we need to be saved.”

    Isaiah 45:23 with Philippians 2:10
“I have sworn by Myself, a word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, so that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue swear.”
“…that at the Name of Yeshua every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Yeshua Messiah is Master, to the esteem of Elohim the Father.”

    Isaiah 44:6 with Revelation 1:8 – Isaiah 48:12
“Thus said Yah, Sovereign of Israel, (The Father) and His Redeemer, Yah of hosts (The Son), ‘I am the First and I am the Last, besides Me there is no Elohim.”
‘I am the Alef and the Tav, Beginning and the End,’ says Yah ‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
“Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called: ‘I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last.”

    Hebrews 1:1-3
“Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages, who being the brightness of the esteem and the EXACT REPRESENTATION OF HIS SUBSTANCE, and sustaining all by the word of His power, having made a cleansing of our sins through Himself, sat down at the right hand of the Greatness on high…..”

    Colossians 1:13-17
“….who has delivered us from the authority of darkness, and transferred us into the reign of His Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, WHO IS THE LIKENESS OF THE INVISIBLE ELOHIM, the first-born of all creation. Because in Him were created all that are in the heavens and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or rulerships or principalities or authorities – all have been created through Him and for Him. And He is before all, and in Him all hold together. …”

    Exodus 3:13-14 with John 18:4-6
“And Moses said to Elohim, ‘See, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The Elohim of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ’What is His Name?’ what shall I say to them?’
And Elohim said to Moses, ‘I am that which I am.’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
“Yeshua, then, knowing all that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, ‘Whom do you seek?’ They answered Him, ‘Yeshua of Natsareth,’ Yeshua said to them, “I am.”
When, therefore, He said to them, ‘I am,” they drew back and fell to the ground.”

    John 11:25 with 1 John 5:12
“Yeshua said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he dies, he shall live.”
“He who possesses the Son possesses life, he who does not possess the Son of Elohim does not possess life.”

    John 17:5
“And now, esteem Me with Yourself, Father, with the esteem which I had with You before the world was.”
    John 6:62
“What if you see the Son of Adam going up where He was before?”
    Evidence of His pre-existence.
I’m sorry Gary, but Yeshua doesn’t sound like a mere man to me. How do you explain it?

    John 18:36-37
Yeshua is answering Pilate: “……My reign is not of this world (as a man’s would be). If My reign were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews. But now My reign is not from here.”
Then Pilate said to Him, ‘You are a sovereign, then?’ Yeshua answered, ‘You say it, because I am a sovereign. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
Then in John 14:6 Yeshua says: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Again, this is no mere man – I don’t care how righteous.
    There are many more passages……
You say you do not deny Yeshua as the Messiah. That is good. But beware. You know and I know and so does everyone else – that to convert to Judaism, you MUST deny that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of Elohim. And I don’t mean one of many messiahs. I mean THE Messiah!
It is evident that you are already on that slippery slope. How can I say that? By denying Yeshua’s divinity – His virgin birth. That is the beginning of your denial.
If you continue down this path, mark my words: you WILL deny Yeshua.
This is not a contest of winning an argument. Whether you realize it or not, you and the others who are on this path are in a struggle for their very souls. I consider you all my friends. I do care what happens. That is the only reason I speak out.
    Hebrews 6:4-6 and Hebrews 10:26-29
