Why I Wanted to be an Actor

I was in the 5th grade and we had a talent show coming up. One day coming home from school in the car, my best friend and I heard a pair of comedians do a routine. It was funny because before one guy would complete a sentence the other guy would answer him. I haven’t got a clue who they were as this was in 1960. We decided to plagiarize the act for the talent show.
Talk about a hit! We did it the first time in front of our class. The kids were rolling in the floor! We did it for the school at the Talent Show. Funny, I can’t remember if we won or not. As far as I was concerned, we won because all our classmates kept telling us how funny it was.
I’ll be honest. There was nothing like that feeling I got when all the kids accepted me because of the skit.
It is a basic human need to be accepted. Now that I’m in my retirement years, I see that.
I also see that we must accept ourselves first because if you are unhappy with yourself, you have misery as a constant companion.
