I Know About Santa

I figured that at age seven it was inevitable for my son to begin having doubts about Santa Claus.  Sure enough, one day he said, “Mom, I know something about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy.”

Taking a deep breath, I asked him, “What is that?”

He replied, “They’re all nocturnal.”

*Thanks to Pastor Tim for this joke!*

I get this e-mail from Pastor Tim everyday. http://www.cybersalt.org/entertainment if you would like to sign up.

Of course, it gets me to thinking. What is wrong with these people? They want their children to believe lies? Some kind of morbid child training philosophy that I don’t quite comprehend?

If you can enlighten me on the purpose of perpetuating fables on unsuspecting young minds, please do so.

I have heard that we are born trusting. Brad Scott gave the illustration of perfect faith is that faith of a baby in his mom.

Yeshua said in Mark…

(Mar 10:15)  Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

I believe one aspect of this is that if you don’t have the complete faith of a little child you won’t enter the kingdom of God. Pretty serious stuff.

My point is if we are lying to our children, no matter how harmless it may seem, isn’t that harming that “perfect” faith?

Brenda and I never really went whole hog on the christmas and easter holidays. I think the tooth fairy did visit, which I regret.

Oh, I know we don’t get do-overs. And I pray that we will not have to rear grandkids as some of our friends are having to do.

Parents, stop and think.

How harmless is the scary movie, the halloween trick or treat and the valentine card?

On my Hebrew Roots page on facebook chozenppl@groups.facebook.com

There was a long thread about Hannakah. Brenda and I have decided that the Hannakia (8 branched minorah) is definitely not shall we say Kosher. It’s adding to the Torah. But celebrating the victory of reclaiming the Temple does not strike me as a Pagan feast, as it’s roots are not in Baal but Hebrew history. Guess we’ll find out for sure in the coming Millenium.

But I do know this FOR SURE. Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and anything else not based on the Tanak and the Brit Hadeshah (Old and New Testaments) will not be celebrated in this house.

(Psa 101:7)  He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

(Jos 24:15)  And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
