Go Forth

Shabbat Shalom everyone. This weeks portion is Lech Lecha, “Go Forth”, in which Avram and Sarai embark on the Great Adventure. And make huge mistakes. And have great victories. Whoever says the Torah is dull is just not paying attention.
One of the major happenings is the birth of Ismael. It is said this is Abrams fifth test. (wow, now I gotta go back and find the other four). You remember the story. Sarai is barren and she offers up Hagar to bear the heir. The plan backfires and now we have Islam.
Anyway, the test was that Sarai comes to Avram and says Hagar is treating her inappropriately because she has the heir in her belly. Now Avram could have said, hey it was your idea deal with it. Instead, he supports his wife. He passed the test.
Yesterday, I went to Amarillo because my cell phone needed replacement. I wanted to go by myself and look at trucks and maybe take in a movie. My wife listened to the Holy Spirit and came with me. Praise Yahweh. If it hadn’t been for her I might have got us into a heap of trouble by buying a truck we didn’t need at this time.
Husbands love your wives.
